Kannur

In the month of May 2013, we(Me and my colleagues)  decided to go on a weekend trip and started looking out for places to visit and landed up picking Kannur as there were many beaches. This was my first trip along with my colleagues.

On the May 31st, 8 of us ( Me, Silpa, Shruti, Burhan, Sandip, Aprajita, Sarmista & Ranjit) were all set for the travel.Other than booking a vehicle for travelling,we did not book any accommodation prior to the travel, as we were planning to visit Kannur on Saturday 1st June and leave to Mysore on Saturday night and find an accommodation there.Visit Mysore,Talakadu on 2nd June Sunday.

Started at 8:30pm from our office on Kundanahali main road and guess what,It was raining heavily. This led to heavy traffic & roads were blocked. Somehow managed to reach a restaurant for dinner around 9:30pm. Post dinner we started our actually journey. It took almost 2 hrs for us to reach the nice road.Once,we hit the nice road then there was no looking back, drove through easily.

It was the time of aashiqui 2 fever all around. Ranjit had got a copy of this movie in a USB and saw this movie on the way. Trust me,dissapointed to the core watching the movie, however music was amazing.

On the way,we stopped at many coffee day outlets and would have drank more than 4 to 5 cups of cappuccino. We crossed Mandya,Mysore and headed towards Virajpet. Not to forget,Rain was still following us.Our driver was dossing of at times on the way. Me and Shruti were privileged to sit in the front row and were trying very hard to have some conversation with the driver to keep him awake.

It was around 3:00am,we reached Virajpet .From here , Its lonely dark roads similar to ghat sections. By now ,getting little restless. when i used to ask Burhan "where is the beach,i can't find any nearby", he used to play that on his phone and show me a video. Crazy Burhan. Not only this, when we driving through those lonely dark roads,Burhan used to play a weird sound from his phone. It was a screaming noise of a girl. Couldn't ask for more.

While planning,Google map baba showed us that it would only take 6.5 hrs to reach Kannur. However, our clever driver missed the shortest and ended up taking the longest route.Early morning 5:30am,we had still not reached Kanur. We stopped at the check-post,paid the state tax and spoke to few guys there to find out the right way. Then we straight headed to Kannur. Reached Kannur around 8:00am on June 1st 2013. Driver took us to a decent accommodation.

We all rested for a while and got refreshed.Grabbed quick breakfast that wasn't so good. They served Dosa with oily Samosa. No idea what they were thinking with this combination.

Kannur's sightseeing started around 11:00am.

First beach to visit was Payyambalam Beach. Was little dirty due to rains and unfortunately, sewage water was getting mixed with the beach waters.

Clicked few pictures here, had few ice candies too. This pic looks like ,as though we shooting an advertisement for the ice candy.

Then,we visited another beach close by called as "Baby Beach". This one is in the restricted naval area.Found many beautiful houses with amazing architecture facing the sea in this area. On a lighter note,We liked the place so much,we girls were planning to get married to the guy who owns the place.

Next was St. Angelo Fort. This fort is facing Arabian see and is 3 kms from Kannur. Had a tough time finding the route due to language barrier.Entry in to this fort is from 8 AM to 6 PM everyday.Well maintained and clean.

We had some yummy mangoes soaked in a syrup made of salt, garlic, mint and coriander leaves.

We returned back to the city to have lunch. After lunch,we drove towards thalassery to visit Muzhappilangad Drive In Beach. We were told this was one of the largest drive in beach in Asia. White sand and clear water. Burhan and Ranjit played in the sea water for a very long time and were not ready to come out anytime soon. Me,shruti and aprajita walked along the shore while the waves were touching our feet. Feeling of water touching your feet while walking on the shore is amazing.we spent nearly 3 hrs.

From here we started to another beautiful location "Dharmadam", an Island nearby this beach .
There's something about the sea. We all tend to be philosophical and me no stranger, was in the same boat. Never felt so relived and was at complete peace while i took that walk on those shores.Saw Sunset and it was spectacular. An amazing experience.

From here,we drove back to Kannur city. While guys decided to go to hotel to rest,we ladies decided to hit the city for a little shopping. We had to take a local bus to reach the city center as our driver too decided to take a power nap before we started to Mysore in the night. Strange thing about the buses were that ,they were over the top colorful and had no windows. Yes,you read it correctly "No windows" what so ever and they were so big and a man could easily be thrown out.

Note: This pic is from google.

We visited an ayurvedic shop and bought few herbal products.I bought red sandalwood powder, few hair oils and Kasturi manjal,so did my colleagues.Post our little city shopping, had dinner and headed back to hotel. We all a freshened up and started our journey towards Mysore around 11:00pm.This time, our driver took the shortest route and we reached Virajpet,Coorg in just 2 hrs.

Here,we had to make a call of either staying in mysore that night, visit Mysore or head straight to Bangalore. Democratic country so opted for voting.Taaaaa daaaaaaa, votes were 50 50. Aprajita and Sarmista said that ,they were too tiered and would not be able to make it to office on Monday,If they don't rest on Sunday.Hence, decided to head to Bangalore.

We reached Bangalore via nice road. First we dropped Burhan at Gotigere, then Sarmista in JP nagar and then me. By 7:30am, i was at home on June 2nd. After dropping me,Ranjit, Silpa, Shruti and Aprajita were dropped at their locations by 8:30am.

The very first trip with my colleagues was quite nice and there's no better way than travel to break the monotonous "Home,Office,Home" routine.

Christmas 2013

Read this somewhere and found it very apt "Christmas, Is Not a Date, It's a State of Mind". I so love the idea of putting up a Christmas tree,Stars & lots of lights around. Unhappiness and sadness just fly's away with these celebrations and  bright lights.

I have few enthusiastic team members at work ,who at times share the same thoughts and interests. Lucky me,they also wanted to put up a Christmas tree. Ramya and shruti from my team rushed to a near by store and bought all the Christmas stuff and decorated a Christmas tree at work.(Can't share the pic here as we are not allowed to click pictures at work).

However, had few Christmas stuff with me and started setting up a miniature version of the Christmas tree at home to keep up the Christmas spirit.

My very own blog.. Hurrayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

My very own blog.. Hurrayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Have been thinking of doing this from a very long time like 3 to 4 years now. Every time,i thought of creating, either the name of the blog that i wanted was not available or was too skeptical about posting things online. There's this saying, "Once its online, then there's nothing personal & its a public affair".

With the end of this year and looking forward for a beautiful new year,am gonna overcome these inhibitions, create my very own blog "Ray of sunshine in my life".
